The Lost Word...

When people become cantankerous about the beliefs and faiths of the people of other religion, considering their own religion to be superior over others- it boils my nerve. Political parties use religion for gaining vote bank by creating hatred between the people belonging to different religions, by killing people in the name of religion and still calling this nation ‘secular’!

People have used the word religion for their gain in some or the other way. They portray themselves to be the men of God, but from inside there’s nobody more ogre-ish..
Over the time, the word Religion has lost its meaning. Worshiping has become a daily chore for people. We see house wives fasting every now and then, chanting loud mantras without even being aware of its meaning and following rituals without even being aware about its importance.
You would be rebuffed by people if you tell them that science and religion are the two sides of the same coin. But indeed, it is a fact that science and religion are related. What religion today asks you to believe is what science had proved millions of years ago. Yes, I am not bluffing, science did exist millions of years ago. Today we call that science as the ancient wisdom. Wisdom according to which, the sole purpose of religion was to obtain self enlightenment.  And the science that we have today is way too primitive and mundane.
What if their did exist a human being, millions of years ago, with enormous power, that could heal any wound just with a touch, that could create an enormous explosion just with an arrow?
When we say God resides within us what do we exactly mean? Shreemad Bhagwad Geeta does say that each one of the human beings has ishwar within us. If it does then why doesn’t any of our Biology text books shows us a human diagram labelled with Ishwar. This is because the human research has still, a very long way to go. The most mysterious thing in the whole of the universe is the human brain.
Science has proved that human body has the ability to regenerate. A very small part of the liver cells have shown signs of regeneration if damaged. This happens due to the secretion of a specific hormone triggered from an impulse by the brain. But, this function is involuntary. Imagine what would happen if we can control our brain to an extent to perform such actions voluntarily. Won’t this give us god like powers?
Many epics talk to about simple weapons having enormous powers. When the Guru gave its disciple an Astra, it wasn’t nuclear powered arrow. It was the knowledge or rather a wisdom that the Guru imparted to his desciple.
What if your body, brain and the environment are in perfect sync with each other? You could shoot an arrow, with a specific velocity, at a specific direction, which would help the arrow accumulate enough charged particles that it creates a huge lightening discharge when it strikes the ground, creating a huge explosion. This is what actually happens during a storm.
What we call today as religion- is the faith and belief derived from that ancient wisdom. For me, religion is a place where you find peace, where you would find your inner self. We do so many things in the name of rituals, without even being aware of its significance. Simple things make a huge difference which we are not aware of.
When we visit a temple, the sweet smell of the sandal wood and the aroma of the incense sticks cleanse the wind pipe and clears off all the foul smell from within. The steady, unwavering flame of the Diya stabilises the ever agitated and fluctuated thoughts in the mind. The Mantra Uchcharans, like the chanting of the sacred word Aum, induces vibrations, starting from the abdominal region, moving up through the alimentary canal or the oesophagus and reaching up to the fore brain. We come out with a smiling face, innervated with positive energy, confidence and rejuvenated with jocund pleasure.
All the religion guides its followers towards self enlightenment.  They define religion as a quest for finding God. Yes, I believe that it is true. But, one would never find God by doing mechanical rituals, and showing off how religious he is. But, religion has always focused in the search of the God within us. Meditation is a very powerful source of self enlightenment, and one meditates by singing harmonious hymns to the lord in the church, by folding your arms and going into a deep trance in a mandir or by bowing your head and praying in a mosque. The whole point of every religion is to find inner peace, induce humility, and bring about compassion towards others.

The ancient wisdom had it all. The people then, were peaceful, happy; they co-existed with other fellow human beings and with the environment as a whole. Lately, people have started realising the power of the teachings of elders. The significance of Yog and meditation has gained enormous recognition in recent times.  Science have started validating the once termed as superstitious theories and myth of the ancient beliefs. For instance, the theory of rebirth was rebuffed and termed as a myth. But recent findings by Dr. Brian Weiss and other scientists are great evidences that validate the popular belief.
When I look around, I see hatred, jealousy, greediness all around, which is completely contrary to the teaching of all the religions. And then the people say they are religious. The soul of the word ‘Religion’ is lost amidst the cruel world. It exists now simply as a word of discrimination...
